This is a post I made back on May 30, 2017. I just started using this mood tracker – that I created – again recently. I find it so useful because you print it out and it is only one sheet of paper. I often take it to my therapy sessions to show my therapist how my moods have been. I just wanted to reshare this with everyone in case anyone is interested in trying it out. I used the link below to get it for myself so it should be working just fine.
We waste so much time and energy on things that we have no control over, which is not good for our mental wellbeing. We tend to stress over these things and it can create mounds of anxiety that can bring us down. When you think of control, what do you honestly think you have control over? Take a minute to really think about it. If you were to make a list of the things you can control and a list of the things you have no control over, which one do you think would be bigger?

With all the advancements that humankind has made throughout history, it is astonishing how our society still has yet to come to terms with speaking up for mental health-related concerns and topics. We still have a long way to go before we can finally bury the stigma and misconceptions regarding mental illness. I am speaking out as just one woman who has dealt with mental health issues as far back as she can remember, and as someone who has cared for those that can not always care for themselves.
As it turns out, I have developed what is known as the “Lamictal Rash.” But instead of taking me off it like my regular psychiatrist would have done, the doctor that examined me decided to lower the dose back down to just a mere 25mg. Now, 25mg was not even close enough to a therapeutic level for me. So I honestly don’t see the point in taking something that will not benefit me, and that has also caused me to get the dreaded “rare” side effect.

In a recent post, I brought up all the resentments I have been thinking about that surround my oncoming bipolar depression. I really dislike this time of year as the sunshine disappears, the weather becomes too cold and the upcoming holidays. I do like Thanksgiving because I don’t go home for that. My husband and I started a tradition many years ago where we invite anyone that doesn’t have a place to go to have Thanksgiving with us. Last year was the first year it was just the two of us.
Often times we turn the television on and see different newscasts about our next generation and all the things that seem to be evolving and changing as we push forward. One of the major things that do not seem to evolve and change is the fact that our next generation has become more dependent on opioids and other illegal drugs. The major question that many seem to be faced with today is simply why?
It is mental health awareness day and I was asked to write about this from the parent’s point of view. I have a daughter with Bipolar 1. It’s a long story you see… I started abusing drugs around the time I was 13 but I truly didn’t become addicted until I was 16. I spent years in and out of rehab and jail really seeing no end to addiction. I was fully convinced I was going to die by the age of 25. I was perfectly okay with that really. Today is World Mental Health Day 2018. Although this post is more for World Suicide Prevention Day (which recently passed), it is still part of mental health. This post comes from the author of Birth of a New Brain, Dyane Harwood. She is a new friend of mine and a “kindred spirit.” Even though this post is originally dated September 7, 2016, her loss is real. I am sure she holds a spot for her dear friend who battled depression like many of us, but unlike you and I, her friend lost her battle against depression.

I know May of 2019 is still a while away, but I found out through Facebook that The 4th Annual Lehigh Valley Mental Health Awareness Walk will be on May 3, 2019, from 9am – 2pm. The Lehigh Valley is in Pennsylvania and I am looking to get a group of people together to walk for this amazing cause that I am highly supportive of. Mental Health Awareness and helping others is the whole reason behind My Bipolar Mind.
Working through addiction recovery is never easy, but by entering into rehab, you have already taken one of the most difficult steps. If you can admit you have an addiction and are committed to staying sober, then you need to take some additional steps to care of yourself. One of the simplest ways to do just that and contribute to your recovery is to spend more time outside. How can the outdoors impact your recovery? Keep reading to find out more.
A majority of us only keep one journal and fill it with both negatives and positives. Not many of us even consider keeping more than one journal to write in. However, there may be some positive benefits in keeping two separate journals. One to document your lows, and one to write out when you are at baseline and feeling well.
If you have relapsed after a prolonged time being abstinent from drugs or alcohol, it can feel like a failure. However, a relapse is not the worst thing in the world. Addiction is a disease for which there is no cure, only management. When you fall off the wagon, it’s just a setback that is a common part of the recovery process for many people. Resolving to recover from a relapse allows you to move on and commit to a lifestyle and choices that support your sobriety, goals and overall happiness.
Journaling helps but sort through a lot in my head. But when that’s not enough, I sometimes tend to turn to blogging. Creating a post for my personal blog section sometimes helps get things out in a similar way of journaling but, to me, it sometimes feels like it does so much more. So here is what’s been bogging me down internally:

Gratitude ABC’s can work wonders for a variety of situations including anxiety or panic attacks, urges to use drugs or alcohol, anxiety-inducing situations, feeling low, or even as a distraction method. It is simple to do and requires only your mind and ability to think.
Addiction is linked to debt — sometimes even poverty — which can create a serious toll on the recovery survivor and, in some cases, their family. The main reason behind this unfortunate connection is that it’s likely fiscal responsibilities were put to the wayside in order to feed one’s addictive behavior. I never thought I could last this long
Without alcohol fueling me from inside
But today I am 11 months sober
And I’m feeling so much more alive
Most people who have been diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder typically don’t mind the upswings – the hypomania and mania. It’s the downswings – the bipolar depression – that can really get under a person’s skin.
I had gotten a message on Facebook from a young neighbor that used to live across the hall from me last night. She is only 18-years-old and she was in a lot of distress. She was telling me how horrible living was for her, and that she was planning on killing herself.
I am somewhere on this bipolar rollercoaster ride, but I am not quite sure where. I think I may be stuck in the midst of a mixed episode. I have some symptoms of mania, yet some symptoms of depression at the same time. I will go from being highly productive and wanting to get things done to being the complete opposite. I am not exactly sure how I am feeling, and because of all the this, I am pretty sure this is a mixed episode.
I must admit, I came across a bottle of this homeopathic fear and anxiety tablets from Botanic Choice not too long ago when I was Googling ‘homeopathic supplements for anxiety.’
