Hi there,

My name is Samantha and I created the My Bipolar Mind blog back in June of 2015. There were a few main reasons that I started this blog:

 I wanted to be able to share my own struggles and triumphs regarding my mental health in hopes that others wouldn’t have to feel as alone as I did when I was first diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder and throughout my life. I wanted to create a place where like-minded people could interact with others who may be going through similar things as they are. I wanted to help educate people on different mental health topics as part of a way to help tear down the walls of stigma that sadly surrounds mental health.

People tend to fear what they don’t know. I wanted to create a place where people struggling with their own mental health can not only read my story, but share their own story as well.

(With that being said, we are always looking for and accepting guest posts about mental health and addiction related topics!)

No one should ever have to feel trapped and alone when they are having a hard time with their mental health.

I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder when was 14 and just starting high school. They started me off as Bipolar 2 which, after a few hospitalizations changed to Bipolar 1. Throughout the years, I have acquired several other diagnosis’s: Adult ADD, Anxiety Disorder, PTSD, and Dissociative Disorder. I have also been a self-injurer for the past 22 years and I will always be trying to recover and resist the urges to self-harm when my head gets too crazy to deal with. It’s a widely misunderstood coping mechanism that probably isn’t the healthiest choice; but I would rather be honest about it because it is part of me, who I am, and where I came from.

My first major book publication came in December of 2018. It was called “My Bipolar Mind: You’re not alone.” It was a composition of blog posts put together to tell my story. However, a year later after having a falling out with my former publisher I chose to have the book taken off Amazon.

However, in April 2020, I republished “My Bipolar Mind: You’re not alone” and switched the title to “My Bipolar Mind: A Memoir.” Then, also, in April I released my second book in the My Bipolar Mind series called, “My Bipolar Mind: Surviving the Chaos.” Both book are available on Amazon.

I am also a freelance writer and have written for multiple sites including,,,,, and more. Writing is a major coping mechanism for me and always has been. I thoroughly enjoy stringing words together to create a story, article, or blog post.


I don’t have any children of my own but I have always wanted to be a mom and I have sadly lost two pregnancies with the most recent loss on February 2, 2020. So, since children might never be an option for me, I give my heart to my furbaby, Jasper.

Since this blog first launched, I was able to bring my bestie, Jazmine, into the blogging world with me and when she can she shares posts on here too! She and I have been best friends for about 23 years now and have had our share of ups and downs together but I love this woman dearly!
