About Samantha

Hi, my name is Samantha and I am a blogger and a freelance writer. I am currently a writer for BabyGaga.com. (Click Here For My BabyGaga Author Profile).

I was diagnosed with Bipolar 1 disorder and ADD/ADHD in 2001 when I was 14-years-old. Shortly after, I was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder. Then to add to the fun, in 2017, I was also diagnosed with PTSD. I do have other mental health diagnoses, but I can get into that later. I also have a pain disorder called fibromyalgia. I also have dealt with severe self-harm issues, so I can also relate to anyone who has had a hard time handling that any of those things or with anyone who knows someone who self-harms. It seems to run in parts of my family. I have almost 6 months of being alcohol-free (Feb. 27th marks this milestone), however, it would have been longer but I relapsed in August 2017.

I graduated from LTI as a medical assistant and spent years working in the healthcare field within various settings. As much as I loved working in the healthcare field, writing is what I love to do to more than anything in this world, and it has always been my dream job. My grammar may be horrendous, but that’s okay because a person can still grasp what I am trying to say by reading the entire sentence. 😀

The job I am doing now may not be something that I can do forever, but at least I can finally say that I love what I do.

I have 12 years experience working with individuals who have mental or emotional disorders as well as individuals who have intellectual disabilities. When it comes to personal experience with all these things (and more), almost my entire life has been dedicated to learning tough life lessons regarding mental illness, addictions, and even abuse. I am sure there are some things I am leaving out.

I am not one to judge anyone because I am not perfect myself. I want to be able to help others who have been struggling with a mental/emotional disorder or addictions issues, people who love and care about someone else who has any of those things, or even people who are undiagnosed and are just having a hard time in life right now.

My goal is to help at least one person who is having a hard time with any issue. I also want to help others become knowledgeable about the subjects we cover on this site. I would also love to shine some light and help de-stigmatize Mental Illness, even if it is just a tiny bit.

Thanks, and I hope you enjoy:
