My Old Friend Insomnia | A Poem
“My Old Friend Insomnia”
A Poem | Samantha Steiner
Physically exhausted So why is my brain still running at high speed My old friend insomnia showed up once again But she barged her way in with such force There was no keeping her locked out anymore Trazodone and Seroquel combined Couldn’t even keep Insomnia at bay I should be sound asleep Snoring and drooling while I dream about my life And the things I’ll never achieve But here I am At 3 AM once again Willing my eyes to close And holding my ears to drown out all the noise But blocking out the lights and sounds Aren’t enough to get my mind to slow down
